Why do you teach Math? I love teaching, and I specifically love teaching Math. I feel that a strong grasp of mathematical concepts can really help students succeed in school and many aspects of life. I'm very passionate about education because of the difference it has made in my own life. I can pinpoint my own teachers throughout my life who encouraged me to pursue my dreams, and I am where I am today, in part, because of them. I would hope that I can have that type of impact on my own students.
Where are you from? I am originally from Los Angeles, California and still reside there.
How long have you been teaching? This will be my fourth year teaching and I have taught 6th through 12th grade. Prior to JMS I worked in Downtown Pomona as the Business Algebra 1 teacher and the Freshmen Team Leader.
What do you do besides teach? I am an avid cross-fitter. I love the outdoors and to partake in physical activities, and so that takes up a lot of my time. I also love movies, music, traveling, and the beach. I'd much rather spend my time outdoors than indoors.
Where did you learn to teach? I have a Bachelors of Arts in Environmental Economics and a Bachelors of Arts in Legal Studies from the University of California Berkeley. Go Bears! Also, I have a Masters of Art in Mathematics Education and a Single Subject Teaching Credential in Mathematics, which allows me to teach all skill levels, from California State University of Los Angeles.
